The Senior Mechanical Engineer is a key role within the Irish business, working within the Engineering Department to manage and deliver projects and manage key customers. The position requires a broad knowledge of, and experience in the range of technical roles and responsibilities carried out by this department. The individual will be involved in multi-faceted projects involving change management, building compliance, HVAC and Public Health design, space management and advising on more efficient energy management.

Reports to: Head of Engineering
Key relationships: Engineering Department, CAD Department, Managing Director (Ireland).
Responsibilities
Lead the design of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, public health engineering, and energy systems.
Prepare and review detailed engineering calculations, specifications, reports, and drawings.
Ensure designs comply with relevant regulations, standards, and sustainability requirements.
Oversee project delivery from concept through to completion, ensuring quality and technical excellence.
Defining project scope, including budgets, to ensure projects are fully developed at concept stage.
Support projects through all lifecycle stages: concept, planning, detailed design, tender, construction, and commissioning.
Attend design team meetings, technical workshops, and site inspections.
Review contractor submittals, technical queries, and value engineering proposals.
Support testing, commissioning, and handover activities.
Ensure compliance with Irish Building Regulations (Part B, L, M), Health & Safety legislation.
Client ESG and sustainability requirements.
Produce design risk assessments and input into Safety, Health & Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations.
Coordinate designs with mechanical, architectural, civil, and process disciplines.
Interface with customers, utilities, contractors, and suppliers.
Provide technical input during tenders and procurement.
Qualifications
Degree or Level 7/8 qualification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
10+ years’ post qualification experience in mechanical design.
Strong understanding of Irish electrical standards and regulations.
Experience working on projects in Ireland or the EU.
Proficiency in design software such as: AutoCAD / Revit (BIM), Mechanical software (e.g. AutoCAD, Revit, IES, etc.).

Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards accreditation (e.g. with Engineers Ireland, CIBSE, or equivalent).
Site experience including commissioning and snag resolution.
