Abbott Ireland Nutrition Division – Cootehill, Cavan
Abbott Nutrition produces a range of infant formulae under the brand “Similac” and follow‑on formulae under the brand “Gain”. The facility manufactures, curies, pasteurises, dries and packages products, which are then distributed to Europe, South‑East Asia, the Middle East, Latin America and Canada.
Established in 1975, it is the largest powder manufacturing facility for infant formula in the Abbott Corporation worldwide. Approximately 1,000 dairy farms supply milk, processed at 500,000 litres per day.
Major Responsibilities
* Lead a team of Project Managers & Engineers, fostering collaboration across cross‑functional teams.
* Provide direction and guidance to managers, evaluate performance and assist in career development planning.
* Promote group goals by selecting, motivating and training capable staff.
* Interface with the Technical and Commercial organisation to integrate new products or processes into the existing manufacturing area, managing validation & introduction.
* Lead all Capital Management activities, ensuring on‑time and on‑budget delivery of projects.
* Provide Project Management Governance, oversee roadmap, monitor Capital, PIER, OEE and quality initiatives, and ensure compliance.
Primary Function / Goals / Objectives
* Maintain Plant EHS and Quality compliance, responding and investigating non‑conformances.
* Implement staffing plans, justify additional personnel and coordinate selection with HR.
* Develop direct reports through training, challenging tasks, disciplinary action and performance reviews.
* Interact with internal and external customers, meeting regular requests and explaining procedures.
* Participate in Validation activities, providing input to protocols or managing execution.
* Manage new product launch and “First lot to stock” to ensure timely release.
* Report directly to the Manufacturing Manager.
Education Required
* National Framework of Qualification (Level 7) in Business, Science, Food Technology or Engineering with at least 7 years of manufacturing leadership experience.
* Advanced Degree / Masters preferred.
* Greenbelt / Blackbelt certified.
