Role OverviewThe Capital Project Engineer will be responsible for delivering a portfolio of capital projects, including equipment installations, process infrastructure, and utility upgrades, from concept through to handover. This role requires strong technical, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.Key ResponsibilitiesDeliver on a portfolio of capital projects (equipment, process infrastructure, and/or utility upgrades). For Example Electrical Infrastructure Upgrade: could include;Monitoring of unmetered loadsUpgrade/ replace Power Meters or switchgear -Prepare User Requirement Briefs (URBs) detailing project scope, requirements, and objectives.Develop cost estimates and prepare capital expenditure (CapEx) submissions.Draft and route project Charters, identifying the required deliverables per local and global procedures, as well as governing regulations, with moderate guidance.Interface with cross functional teams to track project deliverables, responsibility, and progress.Help define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business objectives in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.Ensure that full-scale project plans and associated communication documents are fully prepared to support program deliverable.Work with project leaders to estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.Oversee the planning and scheduling of project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools. Define individual project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle.Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.Manage stakeholder communication to ensure project status and/or related issues are effectively communicated.Collaborate to develop quality assurance, testing, regulatory compliance, and quality plans.Align with other key strategic programmes to ensure alignment to corporate goals, resolving any conflicts.Manage procurement activities, acceptance testing of equipment/infrastructure, and handover to operations.Provide regular project status reports throughout the lifecycle to the Project Manager and stakeholders.Ensure full compliance with environmental, health & safety codes, cGMP requirements, and site standards.Liaise with internal teams, suppliers, and vendors to ensure right-first-time project delivery.Actively support cross-functional project participants in overcoming technical and logistical challenges.Deliver and track project performance metrics including budget, schedule, scope, and quality adherence.Essential Skill SetProject Management SkillsPlanning & Scheduling – Ability to develop comprehensive project plans and execution schedules.Risk Management – Identifying potential risks and implementing mitigation strategies.Resource Management – Efficient allocation of manpower, materials, and finances.Budget Management – Ensuring cost control and adherence to approved budgets.Time Management – Ensuring projects are completed within agreed timelines.Technology Awareness – Familiarity with modern project management tools and pharma manufacturing technologies.Leadership & TeamworkAbility to lead and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to deliver key infrastructure projects.Strong communication (verbal and written) to convey project goals, progress, and challenges to stakeholders.Problem-Solving & Decision-MakingAnalytical Thinking – Assessing complex problems and developing robust solutions.Decision Making – Applying Thoughtful Risk Taking (TRT) principles to make timely, informed decisions.Stakeholder ManagementEngagement – Building and maintaining productive relationships with stakeholders at all levels.Negotiation – Working with contractors, suppliers, and third parties to secure best outcomes.Quality AssuranceQuality Control – Implementing and monitoring project quality standards.Continuous Improvement – Identifying and executing opportunities for efficiency and performance enhancement.Essential RequirementsDegree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, or equivalent Engineering discipline.5+ years' experience in a project management or capital projects engineering role.Proven knowledge and experience of working in a cGMP-regulated pharmaceutical environment.Strong communication skills, commitment, and a results-focused mindset.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
