Project Manager Job Description
Leading a team of project managers and installation teams to deliver complex mechanical projects on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards is a challenging yet rewarding role. The successful candidate will have strong leadership skills, be commercially aware, and possess excellent technical capabilities.
The job involves managing multiple projects simultaneously, overseeing project delivery from tender through to final account settlement, ensuring quality, safety, and commercial performance. This requires strategic planning, effective stakeholder engagement, financial control, and leadership of on-site teams.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead project planning and programming with internal teams and subcontractors.
* Collaborate with Sales and Proposals during the tendering process, including cost estimation.
* Manage Project Managers and Installation Teams to deliver scope safely, on time, and on budget.
* Forecast and control labour, material, and subcontractor costs.
* Perform regular site visits to monitor progress, quality, and safety.
* Ensure the entire project team understands their roles and responsibilities.
* Attend and represent the company at meetings with clients, suppliers, and stakeholders.
* Support the development of RAMS and quality systems during and after construction phases.
* Identify and manage commercial, contractual, and project delivery risks.
* Assist in recruitment, onboarding, and mentoring of team members.
* Report project status and financial updates to senior leadership.
Required Skills and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
* Minimum 5 years of demonstrable project management experience.
* Previous experience in mechanical contracting, ideally with a Design & Build background.
* Relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related field (preferred).
* In-depth knowledge of mechanical services and HVAC systems.
* Strong understanding of the commercial and contractual aspects of project delivery.
* Excellent leadership, people management, and communication skills.
