Job Purpose
To assist in provision of care to our Residents and work as part of a team to achieve excellent standards. To ensure Clients retain their dignity and individuality. To be involved in the general activities of the Nursing Home.
Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications

FETEC/NFQ 5 or equivalent and a willingness to participate in training and development
Main Responsibilities
Ensure the highest levels of care by supporting/assisting Clients with washing, toileting, dressing, undressing, and all other aspects of daily living.
Assist Clients in all aspects of their care needs (physical, emotional, spiritual) while ensuring comfort and dignity.
Pay particular attention to Clients with limited mobility, physical or learning difficulties, using aids appropriately.
Closely monitor Clients who may be confused or have behavioural problems.
Assist in the promotion of continence.
Assist in the delivery of care for Clients who are dying or have a progressive illness.
Assist with last office.
Assist in social activities by interacting with clients and helping them continue hobbies and activities.
Answer Nurse call system and door/telephone appropriately; pass on messages promptly.
Under supervision of senior Care Staff, report on wellbeing of Clients.
Carry out regular checks on Clients at intervals determined by senior Staff Members.
Make visitors feel welcome, provide refreshments and assistance as required.
Make and change beds, ensuring rooms are clean, tidy, commodes emptied, aligned with waste policy.
Ensure Nursing Home resources are used appropriately.
Clean and maintain equipment used by Clients/Relatives (wheelchairs, hearing aids, spectacles etc.).
Keep the Nursing Home clean and tidy.
Care for clients' clothing and rooms, ensuring clothing recorded and marked.
Ensure privacy and dignity for dying and bereaved, in line with policies.
Assist Clients during meal times (consider swallowing difficulties, dietary requirements).
Assist with serving food/drinks, washing up as required.
Escort Clients traveling to/from Nursing Home (social outings, hospital visits etc.).
Practice maximum integrity in all dealings with Clients' personal and financial affairs to avoid abuse.
Contribute to a caring, respectful team environment; treat residents, families, team members with passion, care, respect.
