The role
We are a well-known, prestigious international technology company with a global hub office in Dublin, Ireland. We are looking for an experienced Patent Paralegal to join our European patent group and protect rights to our innovations. This job is a hybrid role, requiring 2 days a week (usually Tuesdays and Wednesdays) in the office.ResponsibilitiesReview patent correspondence and extract relevant informationInitiate filing of EP and PCT applications, including preparing complex legal documents for such patent filings & ensuring legal requirements are met for filingsDeal with formal requirements such as preparing and filing of subsequent documents with the European Patent Office (EPO)Maintain records related to the prosecution of patent applications, including tracking case status, preparing responses, & managing communications ensuring accuracySupport special projects related to our worldwide patent portfolioWork collaboratively and positively providing comprehensive and professional paralegal support with internal patent attorneys, patent agents, and international law firms utilizing in-depth knowledge of foreign patent rules and requirementsActively establish strong working relationships, freely share information, and collaborate with IP and Legal department personnel in Ireland and worldwideUpdate policies and procedures to accommodate changes in internal accounts and legal considerationsEnsure compliance with patent handling proceduresProvide other support services such as preparing reports and presentations, and providing backup to other Patent Paralegals and docketing personnelDemonstrate flexibility and teamwork through willingness to attend evening meetings 1 day a week to coordinate with teammates across time zonesBenefit from the company’s commitment to supporting their employees with professional developmentQualifications2+ years in a similar roleCIPA IP Paralegal qualification is highly desirable. Previous experience as a Patent Paralegal or a background in Intellectual Property patent prosecution would be an advantageExtensive experience with and knowledge of EPO applications, such as EPO Online Account, CMS, EPO filing software, EPO MailboxExperience with Anaqua or other docketing systems is a plusPatent research skills are desirable, including working knowledge of online research tools in PAIR, Espacenet, PATENTSCOPE, and other foreign patent office databasesThe ability and willingness to learn new software applicationsExcellent work ethic, attention to detail, and intellectual curiosityStrong desire and flexibility to work with an international team in other time zonesAdaptable, open-minded, and efficiency-orientedExtremely organised, eye for detail and ability to efficiently manage workload & prioritiseCollaborative, with willingness to share information and facilitate others’ success, team-oriented mindsetConfidence to diplomatically share contrasting opinions and ability to productively disagree with colleagues to find the best solution to improve processes
