COLAS in Ireland is an all island cross border business operating from 14 locations.MissionWe are seeking a conscientious and experienced Site Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and supervising multi site based activities on local and regional roads in Ireland, ensuring that all works are carried out in line with the relevant specifications, on time, and within budget.Main ResponsibilitiesThe Site Engineer will be responsible for the design and recording of site works :Co-ordinating crews, specifically focused on road recycling / resurfacing, to ensure works are completed on time, to budget and in line with stakeholder requirements.Coordinate and manage subcontractor activities, materials ordering and overall program of works.Monitoring and managing productivity and resources to ensure project is cost effective.Ensuring crews (employees/subcontractors) are appropriately recruited, inducted, trained, licensed and competent to operate.Prepare and ensure on going compliance with Site Specific Safety Plans.Complying with company policies and procedures and ensuring all site rules, safety inspections, reviews, prestart meetings, SSWPs and SQE audits are implemented.Customer Liaison.Site Audits.Preparation of site assessments and safety plans.Recording site measures for invoicing.Maintenance of daily record sheets.Profile3+ years relevant industry experience. Preferable in road pavement / surfacing.Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related disciplineStrong communication skills.Commitment to leading a safety focussed culture.Quality focussed with the ability to plan the day, week and months' work ahead unsupervised.Competent in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.Ideally Hold a Managing Safely in Construction Card; ideally alongside traffic management SLGticket, first aid certificate.Full Clean Driving LicenceSkills & CompetenciesExcellent organisation and time management skills.Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.Capability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.High level of problem-solving and attention to detail.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and engineering-related software.Technical drawing – AutoCadSound knowledge of bituminous materials, aggregate selection, and surface dressing methodsFamiliarity with health and safety legislation, as well as quality control procedures
