ATG are seeking a motivated and technically skilled Hydrogeologist to join a multidisciplinary consultancy team in Dublin.
The successful candidate will support a diverse range of water and environmental projects across Ireland and the UK, including groundwater resource assessment, contaminated land investigations, environmental impact assessments, and regulatory compliance projects.
You'll work alongside environmental scientists, engineers, and planners to deliver high-quality technical solutions for both public- and private-sector clients.
Key Responsibilities
Design, plan, and supervise groundwater investigations, including drilling, pumping tests, and sampling programmes.
Conduct hydrogeological risk assessments for developments, landfills, quarries, and industrial sites.
Prepare and review hydrogeological conceptual site models (CSMs) and interpret groundwater flow and contaminant transport.
Support Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and Environmental Liability Risk Assessments (ELRAs).
Manage and analyse field and laboratory data using appropriate hydrogeological software (e.g. MODFLOW, FEFLOW, QGIS, Surfer).
Prepare technical reports, client deliverables, and regulatory submissions.
Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities (e.g. EPA, GSI, Local Authorities).
Contribute to project management, proposal writing, and business development activities as required.
Qualifications and Experience
BSc or MSc in Hydrogeology, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
2–7 years relevant professional experience in hydrogeology or groundwater consulting (graduate to intermediate level).
Experience in groundwater monitoring, sampling, drilling supervision, and site investigations.
Knowledge of Irish and EU environmental and water legislation.
Strong data interpretation and reporting skills, with attention to detail.
Proficiency with relevant software tools (e.g. Excel, QGIS/ArcGIS, MODFLOW, or equivalent).
Full driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites across Ireland.
Chartered or working towards chartered status (IGI, IAH, or equivalent).
Experience with contaminated land assessments or remediation projects.
Familiarity with hydraulic testing, isotope hydrogeology, or numerical groundwater modelling.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
