Purpose of Position National College of Ireland are seeking to recruit a Senior Technical Specialist with primary responsibility for Networks and Systems. The Senior Technical Specialist is responsible for the deployment, maintenance and administration of IT Networks and select systems at all College sites. The Senior Technical Specialist will provide project planning, project implementation and operational support in all networking disciplines, including network hardware and software maintenance, administration of routers, switches, firewalls, wireless controllers and support of networking functionality for business applications. The Senior Technical Specialist will also be involved in management of NCI systems such as Printing, Device Management and general Windows server management The successful candidate must be familiar with Microsoft technologies and willing to perform cross-functional duties as necessary to support the team in delivering services. The ideal candidate will have exposure to the Microsoft Azure platform. Reporting to: IT Operations Manager Key Relationships: Director of IT I T Operations Manager IT Team Members Internal Stakeholders Third party vendors Software Development Manager Key Responsibilities: Responsibilities include, but are not exclusive to the following: Be the main point of contact for NCI's network partner Administration of NCI core network infrastructure Administration of NCI Wi-Fi systems Administration of NCI Firewalls. Microsoft Azure administration Assist in the management and administration of Printing, Device Management, Virtual Desktops and general Windows administration Troubleshooting and resolution of server and network issues. Interact with the 1st Line Response Team members where support requests are escalated to them and manage such requests to closure. Meet IT and business requirements efficiently, ensuring a first-class service is provided to the business at all times in terms of quality and proactive service. Key Attributes: A third level qualification in ICT is essential At least 5 years' experience working in an IT Administration role. Extensive Network Administration experience. Experience working with Cisco and Juniper technologies an advantage Experience working with Azure a distinct advantage Strong technical and analytical skills Team player. Ability to take ownership of assigned projects / tasks and deliver to completion. A bility to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and experience presenting technical material to management team.
