HR Specialist
To ensure the smooth and effective running of the administrative function within all HR processes
The HR Specialist is responsible for:
Recruitment & Onboarding
1. Manage end-to-end recruitment: job descriptions, job-posting, candidate screening, interview/scheduling, reference checks.
2. Support the Garda Vetting processes and compliance.
3. Support the Employment Permit processes and compliance.
4. Coordinate staff and volunteer onboarding and induction programmes,
5. Maintain recruitment documentation and ensure compliance with organisational policies, funding bodies and GDPR.
HR Administration & Systems
6. Maintain accurate HR records (contracts, personnel files, leave, attendance, training) both within the HR directory and within the HRIS, BrightHR
7. Support payroll preparation (timesheets, allowances, updates to hours/roles).
8. Ensure HR databases, HRIS/Bright HR or SharePoint systems are up to date.
9. Prepare HR reports for management as needed.
Employee Relations & Support
10. Provide first-line support to staff on HR queries, policies, entitlements, performance, and wellbeing.
11. Support managers with HR processes (probation, performance reviews, discipline and grievance).
12. Promote a respectful, inclusive and supportive workplace culture.
HR Policy, Compliance & Governance
13. Ensure organisational compliance with Irish employment law, GDPR and internal policies.
14. Ensure HR processes align with equality legislation and best practice in inclusive recruitment and employment.
15. Maintain and update staff handbook, and HR policies.
16. Assist with health and safety compliance, training schedules, and incident reporting.
17. Support the annual audit of HR systems and processes.
Learning, Development & Wellbeing
18. Coordinate staff training needs analysis and training plans.
19. Organise external and internal training sessions.
20. Support wellbeing initiatives and staff teambuilding activities.
21. Track mandatory training (safeguarding, H&S, data protection, child protection, etc.).
Volunteer Support
22. Maintain records for volunteers, including vetting, training, and induction.
23. Support recruitment and retention of volunteers.
24. Provide guidance to volunteer coordinators on HR-related matters (policies, duty of care).
Training and Development
25. Attending all designated training programmes in support of skills development,
26. Active participation in team and staff meetings.
Health & Safety
27. Complying with the Health & Safety requirements of the organisation and legislation.

Education and experience
CIPD qualified (or working towards it)
2–4+ years' experience in HR, ideally in the charity, community, public or social-care sector.
Proficiency with HR systems/ BrightHR, MS Office (especially Excel), and digital tools.
Strong understanding of Irish employment law
Experience managing recruitment and HR administration.
Desirable:
Experience supporting employee relations processes.
Knowledge of GDPR, Charities Regulator requirements, safeguarding, or volunteer management.
Experience supporting culture, wellbeing, or DEI initiatives.
Language: Fluent English
Work Authorisation: Ireland, required
