The Project: We are now seeking a senior lead engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will perform and lead complex client engineering assignments to ensure that business priorities are met. The client engineering function undertakes project design reviews/site inspections on both contestable and non-contestable transmission projects to ensure that projects are developed in accordance with client’s functional specification standards. Delivery of these projects is required to meet key departmental and company objectives.ResponsibilitiesPromote Mace's value of safety first, exhibiting visible safety behaviours, sharing lessons learned and using safety moments and Mace's HSW framework to support the safety and wellbeing of all Mace staff.Ensure robust quality systems are in place, and suitably managed in line with service excellence.Deliver and manage project plans from inception/brief through design development and planning, contractor procurement and construction phase in accordance with the overall delivery program and agreed project milestones.Manage tasks and associated deliverables in support of the associate director and other leaders, alongside the wider project and client teams, to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of the project.Manage project budgets and highlight any risks, challenges and mitigations.Support the long-term development of the function or business unit, creating a sustainable business future.Commit to making a positive impact for our people, clients and the planet, and hold others to account for upholding Mace values.Lead design and wider consultant teams in a collaborative manner to ensure effective completion of responsibilities.Manage the project team and relevant stakeholders to achieve strategic project KPIs.Actively network and seek understanding of best practice, utilising the full depth of knowledge within the Mace group, centres of excellence, and knowledge hub.QualificationsYou will need an electrical engineering qualification at degree level or equivalent, typically with around 6 years of relevant post-qualification experience.Strong technical knowledge in high voltage transmission design with familiarity of transmission technology including new and emerging technologies.Excellent communication skills with strong report writing abilities.Ability to influence others to move towards a common vision or goal and to work collaboratively.Experience conceiving and introducing innovative ideas or solutions with strong analytical and problem-solving ability.Experience conducting onsite inspections and monitoring construction progress for compliance.Full valid driver’s license.Nice-to-have / AdditionalMembership of EI, RICS, CIOB, APM, ICE or equivalent professional development.Substantial experience in the electrical sector delivery phase of projects and programmes.Property or infrastructure project management expertise.Commercial and financial acumen.Experience leading parts of projects within large, diverse teams.Experience developing relationships with senior stakeholders.Knowledge of how carbon and sustainability considerations will shape project outlooks.Mace is an inclusive employer and welcomes interest from a diverse range of candidates.
