Head Clinical Department / Dental Specialist (UG ****)
Permanent Full-Time position at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of the Western Cape, Orthodontics Department.
Key responsibilities include:
Facilitate learning, teaching and training at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Orthodontics.
Conduct research and publish in Orthodontics.
Undertake undergraduate and postgraduate supervision.
Provide academic leadership and administration.
Undertake curriculum development and assessment.
Participate in community engagement and outreach.
Render service to patients on the Oral Health platform in the Western Cape.
Enhancement items for applications:
PhD in Orthodontics or a related field (preferred at Senior Lecturer level).
Demonstrated experience in facilitating learning, teaching and training, preferably in Orthodontics.
Valid registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Specialist in Orthodontics.
Broad understanding of all aspects of the specialty.
Record of quality peer-reviewed publications, preferably in Orthodontics.
Record of successful postgraduate supervision, minimum of 2 masters.
Evidence of expertise and national standing in the discipline.
Minimum 7 years registered as a specialist.
Technical professional knowledge and skills in the discipline and core strategic areas (learning & teaching, research & scholarship, community engagement, professional leadership).
Management experience of 5 years.
Ability to work in a team.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Level of appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
