Job Title
Seeking a skilled Civil Design Engineer to contribute to the design and delivery of site development works, collaborating with clients, reviewing technical documentation, and ensuring compliance with regulations.
Responsibilities
* Design and complete drawings for site development works.
* Develop surface water drainage systems in accordance with SuDS principles, including greenfield runoff calculations and sizing of soakaways and attenuation tanks.
* Design foul sewer and water main networks in line with Irish Water Codes of Practice.
* Coordinate with Irish Water through pre-connection, application, and diversion processes.
* Prepare Designers' Risk Assessments and preliminary inspection plans.
* Conduct BCAR inspections.
* Support procurement of site investigation and civil engineering contracts, including pricing schedules and Bills of Quantities.
* Assist in preparing tender documents and assessments.
* Administer construction contracts to meet design, schedule, and budget goals.
* Liaise with local authorities on drainage, traffic, and flooding feasibility.
* Review documents prepared by junior engineers and provide mentorship.
Requirements
* Level 8 Honours Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
* 2–6 years of relevant experience in civil engineering design.
* Strong understanding of:
* Drainage design principles and SuDS.
* Irish Water Codes of Practice for water and wastewater.
* Site development standards (DMURS, Site Development Works Recommendations).
Key Skills
* AutoCAD 2D proficiency.
* Proficiency in site modelling software (e.g., Site 3D).
* Proficiency in drainage design tools (e.g., Innovyze MicroDrainage).
* Familiarity with:
* Microsoft Project, Access, and GIS tools (ArcGIS, MapInfo).
* Public procurement procedures and thresholds.
* Construction contracts (PWMF, RIAI).
* Building Regulations (Technical Guidance Documents A–M).
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
