We are seeking an experienced Environmental Manager to support the effective management of environmental compliance and sustainability across large‑scale telecommunications and utilities operations.
In this role, you will report to the HSEQ Director and operate as a dedicated environmental subject‑matter expert, working closely with operational, project, design and bidding teams. Your primary focus will be ensuring robust environmental compliance, maintaining and enhancing our ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, and supporting the delivery of our environmental and sustainability objectives across Ireland.
You will play a key role in coordinating environmental activities across the business, supporting major infrastructure projects, contributing to tender submissions, and providing practical, commercially minded environmental advice to operational teams.
Nationwide travel will be required.

Key Responsibilities
Environmental Compliance & Governance
Lead and maintain compliance with ISO 14001, ensuring the Environmental Management System (EMS) remains effective, embedded and continually improved.
Ensure compliance with Irish and EU environmental legislation, planning consents, permits, licences, and client‑specific environmental requirements.
Manage environmental aspects of permitting and consenting, including EIA/EIAR, Appropriate Assessment (AA), waste licensing, discharge consents and water quality approvals.
Lead environmental management reviews, audits, inspections and corrective actions.
Project & Operational Support
Provide clear, practical environmental guidance to project, design and construction teams across telecoms and utilities works (e.g. underground services, substations, trenching, HDD, reinstatement and waste management).
Develop, implement and maintain Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs) and supporting registers and documentation.
Undertake environmental risk assessments from design stage through construction and close‑out.
Monitor contractor and subcontractor environmental performance through site inspections and audits.
Data, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
Manage and review environmental data including incidents, waste, monitoring results and compliance metrics.
Identify trends, risks and improvement opportunities at project, regional and business level.
Support internal and external reporting aligned to sector KPIs and ESG requirements.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on compliance, efficiency and reduced environmental impact.
Sustainability & Advisory
Provide expert advice on environmental sustainability, environmental risks and mitigation measures.
Promote best practice in areas such as waste minimisation, circular economy, biodiversity protection, pollution prevention and resource efficiency.
Support sustainability initiatives and targets across the business in collaboration with the ESG team.
Stakeholder & Regulatory Engagement
Act as the key point of contact with regulators and statutory bodies (e.g. EPA, NPWS, IFI, local authorities) on environmental matters.
Support responses to environmental correspondence, audits, inspections and non‑compliances.
Contribute to client engagement and tender submissions, ensuring environmental requirements are fully understood and addressed.
Training & Awareness
Deliver environmental training, briefings and toolbox talks to project teams, contractors and stakeholders.
Translate complex environmental requirements into practical guidance for operational teams.
Qualifications & Experience
Level 8 degree or higher in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Ecology or a related discipline.
Strong experience working in environmental compliance and management within telecommunications, utilities, infrastructure or construction environments.
Advanced knowledge of ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
Detailed knowledge of Irish and EU environmental legislation and regulatory processes.
Experience developing and managing CEMPs and conducting environmental risk assessments.
Membership of a recognised professional body (e.g. IEMA, IEI), with Chartered status desirable or working towards.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Willingness and ability to travel nationwide.
