Position Overview We are seeking a highly motivated Procurement Buyer to join our Supply Chain team at Helsinn Birex Pharmaceuticals Ltd, based in Dublin 15.
In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials, goods, and services to meet the companys operational requirements.
This includes cost control, quality, and delivery objectives to maintain production schedules.
The role requires supplier management, market analysis, and cross-functional collaboration to support inventory optimization and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities Develop and execute category sourcing strategies in line with business goals.
Evaluate and select suppliers based on cost, quality, service, and reliability.
Negotiate long-term agreements and contracts with key suppliers.
Maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers.
Identify and qualify new vendors and alternative sources.
Monitor supplier performance and drive corrective actions where necessary.
Identify cost-saving opportunities through strategic negotiations and alternative sourcing.
Support cost-reduction initiatives without compromising quality or supply reliability.
Collaborate with planning and inventory teams to ensure optimal stock levels.
Minimize excess inventory and reduce obsolescence risks.
Support procurement digitalization and automation projects (e.g., e-sourcing tools, supplier portals).
Train team members and stakeholders on new systems, tools, and process changes.
Act as a change champion for procurement transformation initiatives.
Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
Mitigate supply risks through contingency planning and risk assessment.
Analyse market trends, pricing forecasts, and supplier data.
Provide accurate procurement reports and KPIs to management.
Plan and maintain material requirements based on the production plan.
Purchase materials in accordance with GMP (correct materials specification, correct supplier), Good Inventory Management Practice, and within budget price.
Manage supplier relationships, assess delivery performance, material quality, and cost competitiveness.
Communicate with suppliers regarding forecasts, orders, pricing, delivery, and material changes.
Coordinate with internal teams (Warehousing, Quality Control, Production) regarding expected deliveries.
Liaise with warehouse, shipping, and production to meet company objectives.
Participate in the introduction of new packaging presentations.
Prepare and maintain SOPs for Purchasing and ensure adherence.
Provide backup support in other areas such as Customer Service, Planning, and Artworks when required.
Carry out ad hoc requests as directed by the Supply Chain Controller.
Adhere to company policies, cGMP, EHS, and quality standards.
Required Qualifications and Experience Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field.
57 years of procurement/supply chain experience, ideally in a process-improvement or systems-focused role.
Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and procurement tools (e.g., Power BI, Excel, e-sourcing platforms).
Proven track record in leading cross-functional improvement projects.
Professional certifications (e.g., CIPS, Six Sigma, Lean) are an advantage.

Evaluate, select, and negotiate with suppliers to ensure cost, quality, and reliability.
Build and maintain strong supplier and internal stakeholder relationships.
Analyse market trends, pricing, and supplier data to inform decision-making.
