We have a great opportunity for a Laboratory Technician in our Kerry site in Charleville, Co. Cork.
This is a full-time, seasonal role.
Hours of work involve a 3-cycle shift pattern: 0800 - 1600 / 1600 - 1200 / 1200 - 0800, with a shift allowance of 25%. The hours may change in summer to 12-hour shifts working 4 on 4 off (2 days and 2 nights).
Our Kerry Ingredients site in Charleville employs around 140 people and produces articles like skim milk powder for the infant and nutritional sector, functional dairy ingredients for the confectionery industry, and a range of cheese powders for the savory snack market. The site has a canteen and onsite parking; it is situated on Kilmallock Road (R515), within 15 minutes’ walk from the town centre.
The Laboratory Technician is based in our Powder Lab, within Milk Intake. You will be responsible for testing and analyzing product samples to ensure quality standards are met. Previous experience as a Lab Assistant, Lab Analyst, Quality Technician, or QC Technician will be advantageous.
What will you be doing?
* Analyzing raw materials (concentration, etc.), in-process, and finished product samples (whey, skim, milk powder, etc.) across the in-process lab.
* Carrying out all laboratory activities in line with GLP and in-house requirements.
* Complying with GLP/GMP and safety requirements at all times.
* Assisting with ensuring the laboratory is always adequately stocked with necessary consumables.
* Recording all data relevant to each test, results, and keeping records up to date, clear, and legible.
* Performing basic instrument calibration, maintenance (LECO), and completing associated records.
* Participating in proficiency testing within the scope of laboratory accreditation.
* Maintaining the laboratory in a clean and organized manner at all times.
* Participating in audits (internal and external) and inspections.
* Supporting site audits as required.
* Performing any other duties necessary to fulfill the role.
What do you need to be successful?
* Chemistry / Analytical Lab experience is desirable but not essential.
* Computer literacy – working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, SAP.
* Proven ability to work on own initiative.
* Proven ability to work within a quality control function, with attention to detail and compliance.
* Ability to multitask.
* Ability to deal with auditors and external parties as required.
