Job Title: VAT Compliance Manager
Location: Ireland
Job Overview
Our client, a leading professional services firm in Ireland, is seeking an experienced VAT Compliance Manager to oversee and manage a large portfolio of VAT compliance engagements. The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end management of VAT compliance processes, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to regulatory requirements. This role also involves identifying and managing advisory opportunities that arise from compliance work, providing strategic VAT guidance to clients.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage the entire VAT compliance process for a diverse portfolio of clients, ensuring timely and accurate filings.
* Review and supervise VAT returns, Intrastat and EC Sales List submissions, ensuring compliance with Irish and EU VAT regulations.
* Act as the primary point of contact for VAT compliance-related queries, liaising with tax authorities and regulatory bodies as necessary.
* Oversee and enhance VAT compliance processes, leveraging technology and automation where possible to improve efficiency.
* Identify VAT advisory opportunities arising from compliance work and provide strategic insights to clients on VAT structuring, risk management, and process improvements.
* Collaborate with advisory and consulting teams to deliver comprehensive VAT solutions.
* Lead, mentor, and develop a team of VAT compliance professionals, fostering a high-performance culture.
* Monitor changes in VAT legislation and advise clients on potential impacts to their businesses.
* Assist in VAT audits and dispute resolution processes, working closely with tax authorities and clients.
* Ensure compliance with internal policies and best practices in VAT reporting and advisory services.
Key Skills & Experience
* ACA, ACCA, CTA, or equivalent tax qualification is preferred.
* Extensive experience in VAT compliance, ideally within a professional services or accountancy firm.
* Strong knowledge of Irish and EU VAT legislation and regulations.
* Proven experience in managing a large VAT compliance portfolio and handling complex VAT issues.
* Ability to identify and develop VAT advisory opportunities from compliance work.
* Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience in mentoring and developing staff.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present complex VAT matters in a clear and concise manner.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating VAT risks.
* Proficiency in VAT compliance software and data analytics tools is an advantage.
