About
FlowDyn team needs 6 PhD candidates for an Irish Doctoral Cohort on Offshore Dynamic Cables.
University College Dublin, in collaboration with University College Cork and Munster Technological University, is leading Ireland’s first national doctoral cohort on offshore dynamic cables.
The PhD program lasts 36 months. Funding includes a EUR 25,000 tax-free stipend per year and coverage of relevant student fees. There are opportunities for travel and networking nationally and internationally.
The cohort will work within a large, dynamic group of researchers specializing in energy and mechanics, managed by UCD Centre for Mechanics, Dynamical Systems and Risk Laboratory.
We seek well-trained candidates with strong fundamentals—be it in theory, numerical methods, or experimentation. Candidates should demonstrate logical clarity, genuine interest in doctoral research, solid fundamental training, and awareness of relevant research works. The program is challenging, exciting, and collaborative, with an emphasis on work-life balance and rigorous preparedness for offshore sector challenges.
The attached schematic outlines the focus areas of each PhD. Applicants are not required to cover all topics but should be particularly strong in at least one listed area.
If interested, please email the contacts below (copy Vikram Pakrashi at Vikram.Pakrashi@ucd.ie) and include your CV and a letter explaining your relevance for the position. Please research offshore dynamic cables and include related information about yourself.
The MTU Sustainable Infrastructure Research & Innovation Group (SIRIG), School of Building & Civil Engineering, offers a PhD scholarship in design, material, and structural testing of dynamic cables.
