Job Brief
The successful applicants will be required to deliver on the vision for the people supported in the service. Compass Corner & Bridge are day services based in the Ballina area which provide day support for individuals between the ages of with a view to maximising independence skills and equal participation in the life of their community. You will be based in a day support setting and be responsible for delivery of support in line with person centred best practice and New Directions Standards.
Successful applicants may be assigned to either service depending on the requirements of each service and persons supported.
You will advocate on behalf of the individual with regard to their needs and preferences. You will support the development of person centred plans and empowering people to achieve their goals. You will support individuals to develop skills in daily living and engage with further education, employment, active citizenship and gain valued social roles in their lives.
You will be responsible for promoting equality in community participation.
Candidate Requirements
* Drive, enthusiasm, and passion for delivering person centred solutions
* An understanding of neurodivergence and interest in working alongside people in effecting positive opportunities and meaningful change in their lives.
* The ability to listen, to see, and respectfully advocate for and on behalf of the individual with regard to their needs, preferences, rights and goals.
* Have excellent communication skills and a clear understanding of teamwork with the motivation to deliver high-quality support, working alongside individuals, their families and community stakeholders.
* A strong belief in people's rights, inclusion, and equality.
* Flexibility will be required from time to time to respond to service demands.
* Open to working in either of two day support settings should the need arise.
* Working knowledge of New Direction s standards and regulations is essential
* Good knowledge of IT skills is preferable
Other duties involved
(Duties include but are not limited to the following)
* Contribute to and participate in the local service planning process and the creative development and ongoing changing needs of the service.
* Ensure a safe place of work, incorporating Western Care Association's Dignity at Work Policy and Health & Safety requirement.
* To promote safety in all environments, in line with the Association's practices.
* Use positive approaches to support people in line with Organisational practice.
Qualification Details
An appropriate 3rd level qualification in Social Care, or equivalent (minimum level 7)
* please note your qualification must be eligible for CORU registration
Other Requirements
* Full driver's license is essential
* All applicants will be subject to Irish Garda Vetting & Reference checks
* All applicants from Countries outside the E.U. will be required to provide relevant work authorization to take up employment in Republic of Ireland. This must be submitted along with Application
* All applicants will be required to access Overseas Police Clearance if they have lived outside of the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland more than 6 months since the age of 18 years
Salary Scale
Social Care Worker Pay Scale (Scale Range €34,969 - €52,619 per annum)
* these are based on full time working hours i.e. 39 per week
