Role Overview
Manager of Howth Castle Cookery School will lead all aspects of the school’s operations and commercial activities, from designing and delivering high‑quality culinary classes to managing a dynamic team and ensuring exceptional guest experiences. The role requires a balance of culinary expertise, business acumen, and creative event management to grow both the corporate and retail sides of the business.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Operations
* Oversee daily operations of the cookery school, ensuring smooth delivery of all classes and events.
* Lead, train, and inspire a team of chefs, instructors, kitchen porters and support staff.
* Manage scheduling, budgets, and operational logistics to maximize efficiency and profitability.
* Ensure compliance with health, safety, and food hygiene standards.
* Work closely alongside and support the Sales & Marketing Executive team to develop an annual plan of sales and marketing initiatives and campaigns for the Cookery School.
Curriculum & Experience Development
* Design and update class content, ensuring a balance between traditional Irish cuisine, global trends, and innovative culinary techniques.
* Develop and tailor unique and memorable experiences for corporate team‑building events, private groups, and retail classes.
* Collaborate with the Sales & Marketing Executive team to create seasonal or themed experiences.
Corporate & Retail Growth
* Build and maintain relationships with corporate clients to grow the Cookery School’s corporate class portfolio.
* Drive bookings and repeat business through strong customer engagement and creative programming.
* Work closely with the Sales & Marketing Executive team to develop promotional campaigns and partnerships.
Financial & Administrative
* Manage budgets, pricing, and class profitability targets.
* Track performance metrics and prepare regular reports for management and attend on‑site weekly HOD meeting.
* Source and manage suppliers to ensure quality and cost‑effectiveness.
* Assist with the implementation of the sales and marketing plan.
