About The Opportunity
As our HSSE Manager – Rail (UK & Ireland), you’ll lead the charge in shaping a safer, smarter, and more resilient rail portfolio across the region. You’ll provide senior HSSE leadership, drive regulatory engagement, champion continuous improvement, and own our RISQS governance. Working closely with project teams, you’ll influence safety culture at every level—strengthening Jacobs’ commitment to BeyondZero® and delivering excellence across major UK and Ireland rail programmes. This is a flexible‑location role with travel to key project sites.
Key Responsibilities
Provide senior HSSE leadership across the UK & Ireland rail portfolio, acting as the principal authority for directors, project leaders and clients.
Own and lead RISQS governance, including audit readiness, non‑conformance management and continuous improvement.
Ensure compliance and assurance across projects through monitoring, risk management support, and alignment with legislation, Railway Group Standards, ISO 45001 and Jacobs’ systems.
Lead incident investigations and serious‑incident response, ensuring effective learning and timely close‑out of actions.
Champion safety culture and capability, including delivering H&S training, promoting BeyondZero®, and developing HSSE excellence across rail teams.
What you’ll need
Extensive experience leading HSE within the rail sector at project, programme or portfolio level.
Demonstrable ownership of RISQS compliance including ongoing monitoring, audit preparation and presentation and non‑conformance closure.
Experience working with major rail clients and complex stakeholder environments.
NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) and Chartered or Graduate IOSH membership.
