We are seeking a General Operative to work in a manufacturing environment.
Job Summary:
The General Operative in a lighting manufacturing company is responsible for performing a variety of tasks to support the production process. These tasks will include assembly, testing, packaging, and quality control of lighting products. This role requires a hands-on approach, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high standards in product quality and safety throughout the manufacturing process.
Training onsite will be provided to the successful candidates.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assemble various components of lighting products, including wiring, housings, and electrical components, according to technical drawings and specifications.
* Operate assembly line machinery and tools to ensure the efficient production of lighting products.
* Perform manual assembly tasks as required, such as securing parts, wiring, and installing electrical components.
* Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to fabricate metal components according to specifications (desirable).
* Cut, shape, and assemble metal materials using a variety of fabrication tools and machines (e.g., saws, grinders, drills) (desirable).
* Measure, mark, and lay out materials for cutting, fitting, and welding.
* Ensure materials are correctly aligned, fitted, and finished before welding.
* Ensure all work is completed to production schedules and quality standards.
Health & Safety:
* Adhere to all company health and safety policies, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
* Follow safe working practices to minimize accidents and ensure a safe working environment for all team members.
* Report any safety hazards or incidents immediately to supervisors.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
* Experience: Previous experience in a manufacturing or assembly role is advantageous but not essential.
* Attention to Detail: Ability to identify defects and ensure products meet the required specifications.
* Manual Dexterity: Comfortable with hands-on tasks, including the use of small tools and machinery.
* Technical Skills: Basic understanding of electrical components and assembly processes in lighting manufacturing is preferred.
* Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift and carry materials, and perform repetitive tasks.
* Teamwork: Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate with colleagues and supervisors.
* Education: GCSEs or equivalent, or relevant work experience.
