Commercial Manager Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Commercial Manager to lead commercial and contractual matters across diverse projects for a reputable construction company.
* Develop and implement the commercial strategy across live and upcoming projects.
* Oversee tendering, bid submissions, contract negotiations, and awards.
* Manage cost planning, budgeting, cash flow, and risk management throughout the project lifecycle.
* Handle valuations, variations, change orders, and final accounts with attention to detail.
* Ensure commercial contracts are compliant, efficient, and aligned with business goals.
* Provide regular commercial reports and forecasts to senior leadership.
* Nurture strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants.
* Drive continuous improvement across commercial systems and processes.
* Support strategic business planning with commercial insight and analysis.
Requirements:
* Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related discipline is required.
* A minimum of 8 years' commercial experience in construction, with at least 3 in a senior or leadership role, is necessary.
* Proven experience managing commercial elements of large-scale public and private sector projects is essential.
* A strong understanding of Irish contract law and public works contracts is crucial.
* A sharp eye for detail, cost management, and financial reporting skills are vital.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills are required.
* A practical, hands-on approach and confidence to make informed decisions are necessary.
Desirable:
* Chartered status with SCSI, RICS, or equivalent is highly desirable.
* Experience working within ISO-certified quality and safety systems is beneficial.
* Familiarity with government frameworks and procurement requirements is advantageous.
