Love cheese? We are looking for seasonal assistants (no previous experience needed) for our independent shops and our Dunnes Stores counters across the country, to support our existing teams over the busy Christmas period from mid-December. You must enjoy conversation and understand the importance of working with and promoting artisan food products. You will sell great cheese, tell the producer stories, and share knowledge and experience with customers.

Responsibilities
The Seasonal Assistant is responsible for cheese, food, and non-food item sales at the shops, cafes, counters and concession walls.
Caring for cheese to ensure it is sold in its best condition and ensuring the Cheesemonger has thorough knowledge of all products and services offered, including the product story, pairings, and the ability to explain flavours.
Cleaning the counters, storage areas and fridges.
Providing customer service and making sales in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of personal service and contributing to the local food, producers, and culture.
Key Responsibilities
Learn about and educate customers about Sheridans Cheesemongers' products and services.
Learn about Irish and European artisan cheese and food producers.
Know current products in range; be familiar with dairy, deli, and ambient categories.
Work in a fast-paced, sometimes crowded sales environment with tact and patience.
Be customer-focused and available to assist customers with queries or service.
Assist customers with use of the Sheridans website.
Receive product deliveries and organize storage in designated areas.
Describe tastes, flavours, textures of cheese and other foods and suggest pairings.
Maintain cheese signs and displays; perform stock rotation and ensure products are kept in good condition.
Maintain food safety standards required in a safety-inspected environment and record/maintain HACCP documents.
Work with team to ensure products are sold before expiry; manage stock levels and FODL.
Report issues to Team Leaders or Retail Managers.
Daily maintenance of the counter, including full displays and date rotation.
Participate in quarterly stocktaking of inventory.
Other ad hoc duties as directed by Team Leader or Retail Managers.
Qualifications/Experience
At least 1 year working in a similar retail setting or relevant experience preferable but not essential.
Excellent knowledge of Irish and European farmhouse cheese.
HACCP trained or awareness of HACCP/Food Safety in Retail.
Interest in cheese and local artisan foods.
Self-motivated with ability to work independently.
Clear conversation and listening skills; outgoing, cheerful, friendly personality.
Passion for great customer service and strong communication skills.
Organised and calm under pressure.
