Constructability Engineer, Data Center Design Engineering
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support data centers, servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment to ensure continual access for our customers. We seek talented individuals to join our diverse team of engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers. Our goal is to find candidates with strong data center technical knowledge and practical construction and commissioning experience to help drive standards in our delivery process.
Key job responsibilities
1. Collaborate with the Global Constructability, Design Engineering, and Construction Management teams to ensure consistency of approach.
2. Establish practical constructability standards in design documentation.
3. Enhance commissionability in designs.
4. Improve processes during the handoff from design to construction/commissioning.
5. Optimize engineering input post-design completion, defining roles, responsibilities, and accountability.
6. Coordinate with regional engineering teams to maintain consistency.
7. Serve as the initial escalation point for complex constructability issues.
8. Travel regionally up to 25%, sometimes unexpectedly.
A day in the life
As a Constructability Engineer, you will be involved throughout the project lifecycle, from site selection to operations. You will act as a conduit between Design Engineering and other teams, providing pragmatic engineering support. You will identify and develop solutions for delivery issues, requiring a thorough understanding of design and construction processes to develop robust and manageable solutions aligned with AWS's best interests.

Minimum qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical engineering or related discipline.
* 5+ years of construction experience.
* 5+ years of data center technical knowledge and commissioning experience.
Additional qualifications include 10+ years in data center engineering, in-depth understanding of critical mechanical and electrical equipment, and strong communication and problem-solving skills.
