Role Objectives Lead and expand a high-performing engineering function of 100+ technical professionals across Facilities, NPI, and Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (including Automation, Maintenance, Test, MES, and Product Engineering) to support current operations and future site growth. Contribute as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), helping to shape and execute the overall business strategy for the plant. Oversee the full lifecycle planning, installation, and validation of automated manufacturing systems, applying World Class Manufacturing (WCM) and Lean Six Sigma principles to achieve business goals. Develop and align departmental technical capabilities and strategic roadmaps with organisational and customer requirements. Lead cross-functional initiatives to continuously improve quality, delivery performance, and cost efficiency. Key Responsibilities Lead end-to-end development of manufacturing, test, and automation processes, ensuring high yield, scalability, and regulatory compliance. Monitor and assess emerging technologies and industry trends to enhance operational competitiveness. Oversee facilities and utilities management, including maintenance of site infrastructure, Building Management Systems (BMS), and associated services, ensuring a safe and sustainable environment. Manage all Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) projects from initial scoping and business case development through to implementation and validation. Ensure engineering compliance with regulatory standards for high-volume medical device manufacturing within ISO8 cleanroom environments. Build and sustain a high-performance culture through coaching, mentoring, succession planning, and performance management. Drive continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives for existing product lines. Provide technical, quality, and commercial support to both internal teams and customers. Lead and coordinate New Product Introduction (NPI) activities to ensure projects are delivered on time and aligned with business objectives and customer requirements. Develop and maintain strong relationships with external partners, including equipment and material suppliers. Support customer engagements and collaborate with Business Development and Design teams to expand the customer base. Ensure all processes meet applicable industry standards and Health & Safety regulations. Lead and support internal and external audits as required. Quality & Compliance Maintain ongoing compliance with quality systems and applicable regulatory standards. Performance Measures Equipment and process uptime Process yield and efficiency Development and standardisation of procedures Delivery of projects against defined objectives Completion of training and development plans for team members On-time delivery of NPI builds to meet customer expectations Candidate Profile Essential Requirements Degree (Level 8 NFQ or equivalent) in an Engineering discipline (e.g., Automation, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Manufacturing, Electrical, Electronic Engineering, etc.) 510 years experience in a similar engineering leadership role Proven ability to lead technical teams and collaborate across functions to drive process improvements Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders Demonstrated commitment to delivering projects on time and to target Desirable Attributes Strong technical expertise in automation, electronics, or related fields Experience in medical device manufacturing or other highly regulated industries Project Management qualification and/or experience Understanding of validated process control and monitoring requirements Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification, or equivalent experience Knowledge of equipment safety standards High level of initiative, ownership, and accountability for achieving results Skills: leadership automation engineering
