Astatine Ltd is seeking an Intermediate QS to take ownership of the commercial success of projects from estimation handover through to completion. The successful candidate will play a key role in cost management, procurement, subcontractor assessments, and financial reporting, ensuring project profitability and efficiency.
This role requires strong analytical skills, commercial acumen, and a proactive approach to managing contracts and supplier relationships. The QS will work closely with project managers, senior management, and external stakeholders to ensure financial objectives are met.

* Location: Hybrid working model – Work from Astatine’s offices located in Guinness Enterprise Centre, Dublin 8 when required, otherwise work remotely/from home.

Key Responsibilities
* Take full ownership of the commercial performance of the project from handover to completion.
* Prepare and present monthly cost plans and financial reports for review by the senior management team.
* Monitor and manage project cash flow and budgets, ensuring cost control measures are in place.
* Identify, evaluate, and mitigate commercial risks while ensuring contract compliance.
* Procurement & Subcontractor Management
o Assess subcontractor applications for payment and ensure they align with contractual agreements and project progress.
o Lead the procurement of major plant items, ensuring cost-effective and timely purchases.
o Manage subcontractor agreements, including negotiations, contract drafting, and performance monitoring.
o Ensure procurement and subcontractor agreements align with project timelines and budgets.
* Contract & Variation Management
o Manage contract administration, ensuring adherence to FIDIC Suite, NEC, JCT, or other relevant contract frameworks.
o Prepare and submit variations, claims, and valuations in line with contractual obligations.
o Support dispute resolution and claims negotiation where required.
* Project Reporting & Compliance
o Provide accurate and timely financial forecasting, cost tracking, and value reconciliations.
o Work closely with project teams to ensure commercial awareness across departments.
o Assist in final account preparation and settlement with clients and subcontractors.
o Ensure compliance with legal, contractual, and industry standards for mechanical and electrical (M&E) projects.
* Requirements
* Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) contracting.
* Strong knowledge of cost planning, subcontractor management, and procurement.
* Experience working with FIDIC Red/Yellow book, JCT, NEC, or similar contracts.
* Strong negotiation and commercial risk management skills.
* Proficiency in cost management software and Microsoft Excel.
* Desirable Skills & Qualifications:
o Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
o Professional membership (e.g., RICS, CIOB, or equivalent) is an advantage.
o Experience with Renewable Energy, industrial, data centres, or large-scale commercial projects is preferred.
