Our aim is to support young people to be informed, feel empowered and heard, and to support our peers to access opportunities and services to help us achieve our full potential.About the RoleThe Mental Health Content Editor will be responsible for providing editorial direction to the creation and curation of informative and engaging mental health content and projects for spunout and our social media channels. They should bring energy and strategic insight to the development and curation of compassionate, equitable and engaging mental health promotion & literacy content, and put young people's mental health information needs at the centre of their work.The ideal Mental Health Content Editor will have at least 2 years of editorial experience (at any level), a commitment to youth engagement and social justice both personally and professionally, be a positive and proactive manager of projects and relationships, and possess exemplary communication skills both interpersonally and through multimedia.They will additionally have experience and subject-matter expertise in the mental health sector, and have a passion for best-in-class mental health content. They will aim to balance the information needs between basic positive mental health information, and more targeted supports for specific mental health experiences, as well as building partnerships within the sector and signposting to resources. They will take an evidence-informed integrative and holistic view of mental health (including environmental and structural factors), highlighting perspectives of lived experience, with an eye to what is engaging and relevant to young people in the moment.Key Duties & ResponsibilitiesThe Mental Health Content Editor duties and responsibilities include:Content Development● Create, edit, feature in and publish engaging mental health content on spunout's website, and across our social media● Ensure all mental health content is in line with spunout's content policies, guidelines and values and is optimised for SEO● Centre the voices and information needs of young people across mental health area● Identify and build relationships with young writers, advocates and creatives to feature and incorporate their work and viewpoints within the mental health area.● Liaise and build relationships with subject matter experts to validate and ensure all content is of the highest qualityContent Management & Maintenance● Conduct section-specific mental health content audits including identifying and archiving outdated content● See to future content gap analysis, retrospective SEO changes, retrospective validation, re-validating older content, and cyclical updating of time-specific content● Oversee the maintenance of accurate and updated signposts within the mental health content area● Manage internal link functionality and optimisationContent Curation● Curate content, identify relevant thought leadership and create compelling digital promotion messaging in mental health area● Collaborate with spunout's Digital Team to distil information into short, engaging, and eye-catching copy and visuals for social media● Proactively seek and action user and stakeholder feedback such as youth panel consultations, focus groups, national surveys, and our Annual Reader's Survey● Work with other Content Editors to integrate workflows and to unite in approach Content Outreach● Liaise and build relationships with partners and experts in the field● As a mental health spokesperson, take media and press engagements to promote your content strategy and messaging● Collaborate with the Youth Participation department to ensure they can maximise opportunities for youth input, engagement and trainingAdditional responsibilities● Measure and monitor the success of content production and promotion in mental health area● Report project outcomes and/or risks to the appropriate stakeholders as needed, escalating issues as necessary based on project work plans● Welcome opportunities for management of junior and senior staff within your content subject-area● Manage all projects as designated by the Head of ContentWho am I?Qualifications and ExperienceA relevant third-level qualification in journalism, communications, mental health or related field or equivalent work experienceAt least 2 years of editorial experience; additional experience of project management and leadership within a team is a plusWork, voluntary experience and/or other demonstrated interest in mental health as a subject-areaWork experience researching, creating compelling written content, and knowledge of SEO and analyticsFamiliarity with the basics of digital marketingExperience with WordPressPersonal Attributes:The ideal candidate will:Align with spunout's Vision, Mission, and ValuesHave an understanding of youth health promotion and social justice issuesAbility to both lead on projects and work collaboratively within a teamDemonstrate strong soft skills including empathy, active listening skills, and adaptabilityBe a self-starter with organisational skills, commitment to working to deadlines, attention to detail, and the capacity to prioritise and balance conflicting demandsFor Application QueriesThe deadline for receipt of applications is midnight on Sunday, 15th February 2026.Only applications submitted via this BambooHR Application form will be accepted.No CVs will be accepted over emails.Please complete all fields of the application form.
