The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Area Sales Manager to join a high‑performing Agri‑Business division. This role will focus on managing and growing an existing customer portfolio, providing expert sales advice, product support, and technical knowledge to clients across East Cork. Reporting to the Business Manager, this position is field‑based with a regional office hub and offers the chance to work closely with farmers and agri‑professionals in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and grow an existing customer portfolio, identifying opportunities to increase sales and market share
Develop and execute an effective territory plan to maximise customer engagement and coverage
Proactively engage with existing and potential customers on a regular basis
Provide accurate product information and technical advice to support customer decision‑making
Analyse weekly, monthly, and annual sales performance and implement corrective actions where necessary
Contribute to the preparation of annual sales budgets, including product focus, new business, and recovery of lost business
Support the development and execution of strategies to expand product penetration across the territory
Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date customer records and track all interactions through CRM systems
Build strong relationships with customers and collaborate effectively with branch teams to drive sales initiatives
Stay informed on industry developments including milk supply, grain markets, and regulatory changes
Manage customer accounts in line with company credit policies and ensure timely payments
About You
Degree in Agricultural Science (essential)
Additional industry qualifications (e.g., IASIS) are an advantage
Minimum 3+ years’ experience in commercial and technical sales, ideally within crop agronomy and/or animal nutrition
Strong knowledge of modern farming practices
Proven ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders
Commercially astute with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
Highly organised with the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines
Proficient in CRM systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint)
Self‑motivated, adaptable, and results‑driven with a proactive approach
