The Team and the opportunity
The National Planning Framework together with the National Development Plan guide strategic development and infrastructure investment at national level. EY’s Government and Infrastructure Advisory (G&IA) team helps clients deliver on these investment plans by providing strategic, commercial and financial advice on the development, structuring, procurement, financing and delivery of infrastructure and real estate projects. Our people come from professional services, finance, investment banking, government, economics, construction, funds management and industry. You will join a team of experienced professionals delivering infrastructure planning, procurement and delivery across Transport, Energy, Utilities, Real Estate, and Communications sectors.
Services:
* Strategic advice and business planning – appraisal of investment cases, preparation of investment/business plans.
* Procurement – commercial advice on procurement of infrastructure assets and complex services.
* Financing – appraisal and raising of commercial finance for infrastructure projects.
* Funding – support for grant applications and other public sector funding matters.
* PPPs – design, procurement and funding of infrastructure assets through PPPs.
* Contract / Grant Management – financial management of PPP contracts and grant programmes.
* Asset Management – value creation across lifecycle of a project or portfolio.
* Infrastructure M&A – advising on the acquisition and sale of infrastructure assets.
* Secondments – temporary resources to support major capital projects.
Your Key Responsibilities
* Lead delivery of Services to clients under supervision of a Partner/Director.
* Understand client requirements and co-develop approach with the client.
* Gather, verify and analyse information to formulate views; interpret financial data and client information.
* Review Excel models and derive preliminary conclusions.
* Carry out analyses, present findings in written and oral form, and provide value through insights and advice.
* Project management of team, client and stakeholders (investors, lenders, public officials, other advisors).
* Manage day-to-day progression of assignments, planning, preparing and reviewing deliverables (reports, presentations).
* Identify risks and escalate as appropriate; provide mentoring to junior team members.
* Manage client engagement tasks including billing and administration.
* Ensure work complies with Quality & Risk Management guidelines; collaborate with colleagues to document and conclude work.
* Develop proposals and other business development material; nurture internal and external relationships.
* Maintain and upgrade technical knowledge and personal skills.
Skills And Attributes For Success
* High level of business awareness and financial competence
* Strong commercial acumen; highly numerate with strong Excel, Word, PowerPoint skills
* Experience in developing financial models
* Excellent interpersonal and client management skills
* Strong leadership, willingness to learn and positive attitude
To qualify for the role you must have
* Experience/competency in two or more of: strategic advice and business planning, procurement, financing, funding, PPPs, contract/grant management, asset management, infrastructure M&A
* Accountancy, corporate finance or equivalent qualification with relevant work experience
* Relevant degree; numeric subjects preferred
* Excellent verbal and written English; strong organization and self-management skills
* Strong interpersonal skills and client focus; attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
Ideally, you’ll also have
* Track record in infrastructure or corporate finance advisory; experience in professional services; exposure to high-profile transactions
* Government and public sector experience
* Excellent business development and relationship management skills
