Healthcare Assistant
Medforce are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and dedicated Healthcare Assistant to join our team in, Offaly. The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality care and support to patients, assisting nursing and medical staff in delivering person‑centred care in a safe, respectful, and professional manner.
This is an agency role and salary will match HSE Scale for August 2025
Responsibilities of Healthcare Assistant
* Assist patients with personal care needs including washing, dressing, mobility, eating, and toileting.
* Support nursing staff in monitoring patients’ condition — including temperature, pulse, respiration, and fluid intake/output.
* Maintain patient dignity, comfort, and privacy at all times.
* Support the safe moving and handling of patients using appropriate equipment and techniques.
* Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and therapeutic environment for patients.
* Observe and report any changes in patients’ conditions to the nurse in charge.
* Help with serving meals and assisting patients who require help with feeding.
* Record information accurately in patient charts and reports.
* Participate in infection prevention and control practices.
* Work collaboratively with the wider healthcare team to promote patient wellbeing and recovery.
Requirements of Healthcare Assistant
* QQI Level 5 qualification in Healthcare Support (or equivalent recognised healthcare qualification).
* Minimum of 6 months’ experience in a hospital, nursing home, or similar healthcare environment would be desirable.
* Flexibility to work day, night, and weekend shifts as required.
