Senior Product Engineer
Based in Galway, the Senior Product Engineer will play a key role in the development, integration, and validation of electrical systems for medical devices. This onsite, 12-month contract offers the opportunity to work across global teams and drive product development from design to verification.
Responsibilities
1. Translate system-level requirements into electrical-based product requirements.
2. Lead DFMEA development and integrate electrical design into risk management processes.
3. Review electrical designs, outputs, and characterization data.
4. Ensure seamless integration of electrical hardware and firmware.
5. Apply best practices in PCBA design, FPGA, motor control, and custom battery development.
6. Collaborate with cross-functional design teams (systems, firmware, mechanical) to troubleshoot and verify electrical systems.
7. Use DFSS tools to analyze and optimize product performance.
8. Validate custom test environments including hardware, software, and methods.
9. Perform and document verification testing against electrical product requirements.
10. Work with certified test houses to meet global regulatory standards (e.g., ISO, IEC ).
11. Support design transfer activities to manufacturing and product release teams.
12. Act as the lead electronics expert and liaison for cross-functional partners.
13. Adhere to all quality policies, procedures, and compliance standards.
14. Work independently with minimal supervision, including international collaboration and occasional global travel.
Requirements
Must Have:
15. Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (Electrical or Computer Engineering preferred).
16. 4+ years' experience in electrical product development within a regulated medical device environment.
17. Strong understanding of IEC, ISO, EMI/EMC, and safety compliance standards.
18. Hands-on experience designing and debugging analog/digital circuitry, motor control, and custom battery systems.
19. Experience in electromechanical medical devices and hardware/firmware integration.
Nice to Have:
20. Master's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
21. Experience with verification and validation of medical devices.
22. Skilled in automated test bench development and test script/method validation.
23. Strong background in hardware-firmware integration.
