Clinical Nurse Manager II Medical Oncology - Limerick Cancer CentreLocation: Limerick Cancer CentreJob type: PermanentOverview of roleWe are hiring a Clinical Nurse Manager for a permanent, full-time contract.Key ResponsibilitiesThe post of CNM II has a pivotal role in service planning, coordinating, and managing activity and resources within the Oncology Day Unit.The CNM II will coordinate and lead in the implementation and provision of quality care.Analyzes workloads and skill requirements to meet patient care needs.Assesses staff competencies and makes patient care assignments.Delegates appropriate tasks to personnel, consistent with legal and professional guidelines and departmental standards.Maintains clear communications with the CNM III regarding unit needs and/or incidents.Management and OrganisationProvide necessary supervision, coordination and deployment of nursing and support staff to ensure optimum delivery of care in the designated area through allocating work fairly and competently.Manage communication and facilitate team building.Provide staff leadership and motivation conducive to good working relations and performance.Manage all resources efficiently and effectively, liaising with Operations Manager on service provisions and areas of need.Lead on practice development within the clinical area.Lead and implement change.Promote, facilitate and participate in the development of nursing policies and procedures. Records must be kept in safe custody when no longer required.Qualifications & ExperienceSkills Essential to the PostExcellent communication skills. Proven track record in Nursing Management at a senior level. Preceptorship/teaching and assessment of students and junior staff is essential. Experience in implementation of service improvement and development. Experience working with Electronic Health Records. Excellent leadership skills with the ability to problem solve and use initiative. Ability to negotiate and resolve difficult clinical, operational and interpersonal situations. Excellent interpersonal and team building skills.QualificationsPost Graduate or similar in Oncology. Completed a management course. Evidence of continuing professional development. Advanced Life Support qualification or commitment to undertake same.ExperienceExperience of 4 years working in the Oncology setting with 2 years management experience required.Post holder must be registered, or eligible for registration in the General Division of the live Register of Nurses kept by NMBI.Minimum of two years' experience within a management position, ideally three years in an Oncology department. Awareness of HR policies and procedures. Working knowledge of Microsoft packages. Experience in change management. Active role in continuous improvement programme using lean tools and methodology.Job Specific Competencies and KnowledgeCompetent in IV/Oral Chemotherapy administration. Competent in accessing, maintaining & care of CVAD devices. Competent in IV Cannulation & Venepuncture. Professional Knowledge & Experience.
