Senior Cloud Engineer (VP) role at Robert Walters
We're seeking a highly skilled Google Cloud Engineer (VP level) to join our growing team. You will be responsible for designing, implementing and managing cloud-based solutions on the Google Cloud Platform as part of a multicloud environment, delivering high-quality, resilient, scalable and secure solutions that meet business requirements.
Sumitomo Mitsui Finance Dublin Limited (SMFD) is a wholly owned subsidiary of SMBC and is growing rapidly as a Centre of Excellence for the bank’s universal banking business across EMEA. It provides a range of technology and operational support services, aligned to SMBC’s growth, innovation, and transformation strategies.
What You'll Do
* Responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining Google Cloud core infrastructure and resources to support the business
* Automate infrastructure provisioning and management using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD DevSecOps tools
* Monitor and troubleshoot cloud environments ensuring high availability and performance
* Work with Information Security to implement and manage security best practices, including access control, data encryption and threat detection
* Collaborate with development teams to integrate cloud solutions with existing applications and systems
* Stay up-to-date with the latest Google Cloud technologies and industry best practices
* Participate in the evaluation and selection of new cloud-based technologies and services
* Contribute to the improvement of cloud operations and processes
What You'll Bring
* Proven experience working as a Cloud Engineer in Google Cloud Platform
* Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts and their Google Cloud implementation including networking, storage and security as well as other concepts such as SaaS, PaaS and IaaS
* Experience and understanding of enterprise patterns and best practices around building out GCP for a regulated organisation (e.g. Landing Zones, Enterprise foundations blueprint, network and connectivity options, etc.)
* Proven experience with DevSecOps practices (e.g. Git, CI/CD) and tools such as Google Cloud DevOps, Cloud Build, GitHub Enterprise and GitLab
* Strong proficiency with Terraform (IaC), Docker and Kubernetes (containerization technologies) are strong advantages
* Solid understanding of Google Cloud Identity and Access Management (IAM) and Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)
* Experience with scripting languages, e.g. PowerShell, Bash and Python
* Strong communications and collaboration skills with the ability to produce clear documentation in corporate Wiki tools
* Experience with other Cloud Services such as Microsoft Azure and AWS is a strong plus
* Rights to work in Dublin are strongly preferred
