Role Purpose:
The Second Line Support Engineer is a highly technical position. This person will be primarily responsible for Cloud infrastructure but also the business-critical Core Data networks, associated services, operational engineering, device, and project deployment. These networks provide IP based voice, video, TV and data services in fixed and mobile environments.
There is a strong emphasis on the candidate's ability to perform troubleshooting of service issues.
Essence of Role – Key Accountabilities:
Operational management of Cloud infrastructure in accordance with the strategy and the goals of the domain.
Operational support of Mobile EPC and Gi LAN networks, Fixed ISP and peer networks, messaging platforms, firewalls
Fix to Restore – to provide support to the 1st level support teams to restore service due to an incident
Preventative Maintenance – perform preventative maintenance on equipment to avoid service outages, including routine patching and upgrades
Problem management – utilize the problem management process to proactively improve the quality of the network & services
Change control - Review of changes prior to deployment to ensure network integrity is maintained
Project delivery – Contribute in the design, build, test and deploy phases of delivery projects working closely with the engineering and design teams .
We Are Looking For You, If You Have:
Essential
Degree in engineering or similar
More than 5 years professional experience in engineering or operational role.
Knowledge of data centre infrastructure, cloud, virtualization architectures and operational processes.
IP Networking, Fixed and Mobile telecoms protocols, Linux administration
