Dairygold Agri‑Business and Member Trading are seeking to hire an Area Sales Manager.
About the Opportunity
The Area Sales Manager will be responsible for the effective management of an existing customer portfolio to provide sales advice, support and technical knowledge to Dairygold Agri‑Business customers.
This role reports directly to the Business Manager – Dairy, has an office base in Mogeely, Co. Cork and covers the East Cork region.
Responsibilities
Analyse and interpret weekly, monthly and yearly sales performance and take appropriate steps to correct below‑budget performance.
Using an effective territory plan, explore all opportunities to sell by ensuring that all existing and potential customers are proactively contacted regularly in a timely and efficient manner.
Provide accurate and relevant product information to assist customers in buying choices.
In conjunction with the management team, prepare an annual sales budget, including detail on products, potential new business and plans on regaining lost business.
Participate in the development of strategies for the further expansion of sales of the widest possible range of Society products to all existing and potential customers.
Create and maintain a comprehensive territory plan, including a journey plan for each business phase within the year.
Maintain an up‑to‑date customer profile for your area in a way that sales potential can be readily compared with results achieved.
Maintain a record of all customer contacts through the CRM system.
Build an Agri sales team in your area comprised of branch personnel that can assist in the sales drive and maintain effective communication with the team, aiming at aggressive promotion of Society products and offerings.
Inform yourself on developments relating to issues on milk supply, grain, new regulations, rules and procedures which will impact relations between milk suppliers, grain suppliers, shareholders and the Society.
Manage customer accounts to ensure that they are kept up to date in accordance with Society credit policy and utilise the most efficient system of accounts payment within your area, understanding best practice and striving for the same.
Qualifications
An Agricultural Science degree is essential; an IASIS qualification is an advantage.
3+ years of commercial and technical sales experience in Crop Agronomy and Animal Nutrition.
In‑depth knowledge of all aspects of modern‑day farming.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence others at all levels in the organisation and a proven working relationship with people.
Strong business acumen, commercially aware, with robust analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Proven track record of strong organisational skills, ability to prioritise tasks and focus on and meet task deadlines.
Willingness to assist in a team environment and adapt to challenges in achieving departmental and Group objectives.
A positive and flexible attitude, self‑starting ability and the aptitude to take ownership of projects and see them through to completion.
Ability to develop credibility, authority and respect within the business and with external parties.
Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and possess good written, verbal and negotiation skills.
Flexible and resilient with a ‘can do’ attitude.
