NexVentur is seeking an experienced Site Engineer to join our client’s team, a Tier 1 Civil Engineering Contractor for a major infrastructure project in Cork.
Our client is a leading national contractor currently spearheading large-scale civil infrastructure works in Cork, including motorway upgrades, bridge construction, and extensive utility diversions. This is a high‑profile project offering long‑term career progression and the opportunity to work on some of the region’s most significant engineering challenges.
This role is critical to the successful execution of complex civil works, requiring a high level of technical expertise, leadership on‑site, and a rigorous commitment to quality and safety standards.
Role & Responsibilities
Manage the setting out and dimensional control of complex civil elements, including structural concrete, piling, and large-scale earthworks using advanced GNSS and Robotic Total Station technology.
Review and interrogate multidisciplinary design packages; identify potential design clashes or buildability issues and raise RFI’s (Requests for Information) to the design team.
Assist the Project Manager in developing short‑term programs (3‑week look‑aheads) and monitoring progress against the master construction schedule.
Oversee the implementation of the Project Quality Plan, ensuring all testing, inspections, and ITPs (Inspection Test Plans) are completed and documented for the final handover file.
Promote a "Safety First" culture on‑site, reviewing Method Statements and Risk Assessments (RAMS) and ensuring all subcontractors adhere to Tier 1 safety protocols.
Coordinate the delivery of bulk materials and specialized plant machinery, ensuring optimal resource allocation to maintain project momentum.
Attend progress meetings with client representatives and local authorities, providing technical updates and resolving site‑based queries efficiently.
Skills & Experience
Third Level Degree (Level 8) in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering is essential.
4–6+ years of experience in a Site Engineer or Senior Engineer role, specifically within a Tier 1 or Tier 2 heavy civil engineering environment.
Expert‑level competency in setting out (Leica/Trimble) and advanced AutoCAD skills for temporary works design and volume calculations.
Deep understanding of the NRA/TII Specification for Road Works and Irish Building Regulations.
Proven ability to supervise junior engineers and manage large subcontracted work packages.
Full Irish Driver’s Licence, valid SafePass, and relevant CSCS cards are mandatory.
Pay and Package
€65,000 – €75,000+ (Negotiable based on Tier 1 experience)
Premium Company Vehicle or Car Allowance, Fuel Card, and Toll Tag.
