Eligibility to participate in the Community Employment Scheme (CES) is generally linked to those who are 21 years or over and in receipt of a qualifying social welfare payment for 1 year or more, or 18 years or over for certain disadvantaged groups. Job Title: Administrative Assistant (Community Employment Scheme)
Location: Youth Information Centre, North Connaught, Ireland
Accountable to: Community Employment Supervisor
Hours: Part‑time, 19.5 hours per week (Monday & Tuesday 9:00‑17:00; Wednesday 9:00‑13:30 or 12:30‑17:00; Thursday & Friday 9:00‑17:00)
Youth Work Ireland North Connaught Community Employment Scheme is a project funded by the Department of Social Protection, employing participants to work within its own services and with other community-based organisations in Sligo Town.
* Liaise with Information Assistants on secretarial work regarding dates, typing, layout and presentation.
* Type reports, posters, assignments, PowerPoint presentations and other secretarial work accurately.
* Consult with other staff members to ensure work is completed accurately and to customer’s satisfaction.
* Input data, manage and update client files.
* Assist customers with specific requests such as photocopying, binding, laminating, scanning, etc.
* Provide receptionist cover when needed – greeting customers, answering telephone queries, taking messages and forwarding to appropriate staff.
* Handle cash transactions and record all transactions in the cash sheet.
* Receive training in the use of equipment (telephone system, photocopier, laminator, binder, interactive screen, etc.).
* Maintain the cleanliness of office space and common areas.
* Participate in ongoing training in customer service, computer/software use and reception/admin functions.
* Attend specific training such as SUSI, CAO, Driver Theory, DSP, etc.
* Provide 1:1 services to members of the public such as Driver Theory, CV updates and other services offered by the Youth Information Centre.
All staff are expected to maintain confidentiality – personal details about clients and other staff must not be disclosed to the public.
Garda clearance (or Police Check if applicable) and two references will be required.
