Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Machine Safety Specialist to join our team responsible for designing, implementing, and validating safety systems for bridge and gantry cranes. This role plays a critical part in ensuring compliance with international safety standards while enabling efficient and reliable crane performance.
The position may include occasional business travel within Ireland and overseas. Responsibilities will include:
1. Liaising with the risk assessment team to interpret safety function requirements and identify safety generate Safety Requirement Specifications (SRS), based on risk assessments and international standards.
2. Supporting the electrical and software design engineers to translate safety requirements into practical electrical design solutions.
3. Reviewing and validating safety related parts of the control system and carrying out performance calculation using Sistema software application.
4. Generating safety function descriptions, verification reports, and compliance checklists.
5. Providing support during functional testing, commissioning, and validation of safety systems.
6. Assisting in maintaining standard safety design templates and blocks for use across various products.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
A recognised qualification in engineering in the fields of electrical, software or mechanical engineering, functional safety, or a related discipline is required. Knowledge of European Machine Safety Directive or international standards in safety related parts of control systems is desirable.
Third level qualification or suitable experience in health & safety or a related discipline is also desirable. Qualification as a Certified Machinery Safety Expert (CMSE) and/or Certified Expert in Functional Safety (CEFS) is an advantage.
