Our Observability team is responsible for crafting a comprehensive end-to-end experience, from data collection to actionable insights. This role plays a pivotal part in that journey, focusing on instrumentation.
Instrumentation specialists lead the customer's journey from the very beginning, shaping the developer experience for instrumenting applications, services, and infrastructure using OpenTelemetry. Their goal is to create seamless data collection experiences, making it seem almost magical. This enables our customers to unlock the full potential of our observability platform.
This is a high-impact, deeply technical product role situated at the intersection of open source, developer experience, and strategic business planning. Instrumentation specialists will be our voice and ears within the OpenTelemetry community, influencing the standard's future while defining the direction for OTel-native SDKs, exporters, collectors, and documentation.
Key Responsibilities
* Define Vision & Strategy: Develop and champion the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for the entire OpenTelemetry instrumentation experience, ensuring alignment with broader observability goals and the evolving OTel landscape.
* Champion Developer Interests: Engage deeply with developers, SREs, and platform engineers through interviews, community channels, and analytics to understand their pain points and build solutions they love.
* Lead in the Open Community: Be an active and influential member of the OpenTelemetry community. Participate in Special Interest Groups, contribute to specifications, and build relationships to ensure our platform is the optimal place to send OTel data.
