Abrivia are currently recruiting for a Senior Casualty Underwriter to join our client, a leading international insurer, as part of a newly structured underwriting team in Dublin.
This is a senior, market-facing role working with large corporate and complex casualty accounts, requiring a confident underwriter who can operate independently and trade at a high level with brokers.
This role will suit someone who enjoys being out in the market, building relationships and driving new business, rather than operating in a desk-based underwriting position.
Your Role
Underwrite and trade complex Casualty risks for large corporate and major accounts in line with underwriting authority and guidelines
Act as a senior point of contact for broker partners, developing and converting new business opportunities
Proactively build and manage a strong pipeline through regular broker engagement and face-to-face meetings
Negotiate terms and pricing, demonstrating strong commercial judgement and technical confidence
Work closely with underwriting management, distribution and cross-line colleagues
Maintain underwriting integrity through adherence to governance standards and best practices
Represent the business externally and promote its underwriting proposition and reputation
Your Skills
Strong experience underwriting Casualty business within a commercial or corporate environment
Proven ability to trade and negotiate with brokers at a senior level
Comfortable operating autonomously and holding your own in broker discussions
New business focused and commercially driven
Excellent communication and relationship management skills
