Role of Electrical Engineering Officer (ELO):
* Responsible for designing, procuring, installing, and maintaining systems on Naval ships, including power, navigation, communication, weapons, environmental, and IT systems.
* During sea postings, ELOs are key members of the engineering department, managing electrical, electronic, and control systems vital for vessel operations.
* Leadership skills are essential; training will ensure competence in military roles and responsibilities.
* Potential postings onboard ships, ashore, or overseas.
* Post-sea rotation, roles may include project management, maintenance planning, equipment research, and procurement at naval bases or the Naval College in Cork.
* Opportunities for internal training and professional development in areas like project management, advanced engineering degrees, standards training, and safety certifications.
Minimum requirements at application:
* Citizenship: Irish citizen or legal entitlement to reside and work in Ireland.
* Character and Security: Good character and ability to obtain necessary security clearance.
* Medical and Physical Fitness: Meet required standards during recruitment.
Age: Under 50 years old on December 31 of the application year.
* Qualifications: Recognized Bachelor Degree (Honours) at level 8 or higher in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or equivalent.

Salary and Allowances:
Starting salary of €57,000 with annual increments. Additional approx. €20,000 per year for allowances, including a tax-free overseas service allowance starting at €15,000 annually.
