Business Development Manager Location: Laois Our client, in the construction industry, is seeking to hire a Business Development Manager. This role is ideal for a proven professional with a strong record of accomplishment in business development in the construction sector. The ideal candidate should have specification selling experience in innovative construction technologies that drive efficiency and savings such as prefabricated or modular systems. The role ideally calls for experience drawn from specifying and selling the following product categories. Job Purpose Create sales revenue through a strong pipeline of specified projects to support business growth and recent investment in a smart factory. Help lead the transformation of the steel reinforcement construction market from traditional, labour-intensive methods to a fast, efficient, automated, and patented solution. Drive market adoption by targeting senior decision-makers across key sectors, securing specifications, and delivering sales. Key Responsibilities Generate sales and revenue via a pipeline of specified construction projects. Promote the adoption of innovative steel reinforcement solutions by highlighting benefits such as cost savings, reduced labour, lower carbon footprint, time efficiency, and improved health and safety. Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders in the construction industry, including main contractors, structural engineers, and specifiers. Influence project specifications during early design stages to ensure integration of the companys technology into major construction developments. Prepare and deliver tailored, project-specific proposals and presentations to prospective clients with support from the head office. Collaborate with internal teams to share product knowledge and market insights, fostering a culture of innovation and performance. Provide detailed reports on market trends, sales progress, and customer insights to identify new opportunities for growth. Maintain accurate records of sales activities using the companys CRM system. Focus sales efforts on strategic growth sectors such as ports, renewable energy, data centres, and other large-scale infrastructure projects. Partner with the technical support team to ensure all proposals and presentations align with specific project requirements. Key Candidate Requirements Minimum of 5 years' experience in senior-level business development or specification sales within the construction industryespecially in rebar, reinforced concrete, precast concrete, piling, prefabricated modular systems, groundworks, or formwork. Degree in structural, civil, or mechanical engineering (or closely related discipline). Proven record of achieving revenue growth and surpassing sales targets. Well-developed network within the construction industry, including contacts with main contractors, engineers, and specifiers. Experience in large-scale infrastructure projects, particularly in sectors like ports, renewable energy, and data centres. Strong ability to deliver CPDs and value-led pitches to board-level stakeholders. Excellent time management, opportunity identification, cold lead development, and task prioritization skills. Positive, proactive attitude with outstanding relationship-building and teamwork abilities. Field-based with the flexibility to work remotely and travel regularly for client meetings and site visits.
