Role Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced VMware, Storage and Datacenter Engineer to join our Infrastructure team.
This role is responsible for the design, deployment, operation and lifecycle management of enterprise virtualization, storage, networking and datacenter platforms across multiple sites.
The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in VMware vSphere/ESXi, NSX-T, PowerStore or equivalent enterprise storage, and secure/isolated datacenter environments such as Dell CyberVault, Commvault, or similar air-gapped platforms.
You will also lead engineering and support activities across disaster recovery, multi-site architecture, and secure backup solutions including Veeam Immutable backups.
This position plays a key role in delivering resilient, scalable, secure infrastructure platforms that support mission-critical business operations.
Main Duties
Lead the technical design, implementation and delivery of VMware, storage, and datacenter solutions.
Architect, deploy, and manage VMware vSphere, ESXi clusters, vCenter and associated ecosystem platforms.
Design & operate NSX-T network virtualization technologies and micro-segmentation.
Lead multi-datacenter architecture design including replication, failover, DR, and HA strategies.
Design and manage Dell PowerStore, SAN/NAS systems, storage performance/IOPS optimization, and replication technologies.
Lead the build-out and management of isolated/cold environments (Dell CyberVault / Commvault / air-gapped recovery sites).
Operational Responsibilities
Provide advanced Level 3 engineering support for VMware, storage, and physical server issues.
Maintain and operate enterprise hardware including Dell, HPE or Lenovo physical servers.
Ensure datacenter environments (power, cooling, cabling, racks, security) are maintained to best practice.
Monitor and analyse system performance, capacity, and reliability across virtualized and physical platforms.
Maintain and upgrade firmware, hypervisors, storage microcode, and physical infrastructure.
Backup & Recovery
Manage and enhance Veeam Backup & Replication platforms including hardened/immutable repositories.
Implement backup testing, recovery validation, and disaster recovery runbooks.
Support cyber-resilient backup architectures including offline/cold storage environments
Security & Compliance
Implement security best practices across virtualization, storage, and datacenter systems.
Support audit, compliance and governance activities.
Apply change management, risk assessment and infrastructure governance procedures.
Produce and maintain high-quality documentation (designs, SOPs, diagrams, procedures).
Identify opportunities to automate, harden or streamline operational activities.
Provide credible technical advice balancing functionality, cost and risk.
Requirements
5+ years experience in a similar role.
VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter (design, build, lifecycle management)
Enterprise storage (Dell PowerStore preferred; Pure/NetApp acceptable)
SAN technologies (FC, iSCSI, zoning, LUN masking, multipathing)
Physical server hardware (Dell, HPE, UCS, etc.)
Cold/isolated vault environments (CyberVault, Commvault, or similar)
Backup technologies — Veeam Backup & Replication, immutable repositories
Windows Server, Active Directory & group policy (nice to have)
Soft Skills
Strong communicator and collaborator across IT and business stakeholders
Ability to lead projects end-to-end
Analytical mindset with strong troubleshooting skills
Ability to work under pressure and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment

Datacenter or security certifications (CCNP-DC, CISSP, Azure/AWS infra)
