How You Will Contribute
The function of the forklift driver is to ensure the safe and proper loading and dispatch of product from the packing area and stores.
· Remove pallets of cheese from packing area to stores and to containers.
· Re-arrange pallets in store if required.
· Supply production department with packaging (cartons, pouches, etc.), salt, chemicals (acid, caustic, chlorus, rennet, etc.) materials, as required.
· Report any mechanical faults of forklift or stores to maintenance.
· Complete daily forklift checks.
· Help maintenance and sub-contractors shift mortar, piping, scaffolding and other materials.
· Visually check lorries on arrival and report any issues to relevant Management.
· Operate dock levellers in loading bays.
· Sign for all deliveries and ensure paperwork is placed in the appropriate location (i.e. the paperwork slots by the dispatch board).
· Complete dispatch documentation, as required.
· Seek opportunities for continuous improvement of the role.
· Conduct / contribute to problem-solving to resolve issues; escalate to appropriate management (where needed).
· Ensure the area is kept in a clean, hygienic and safe state.
· Attend and contribute to relevant meetings.
Bar Coding:
· Physically place deliveries in designated receiving locations.
· Apply the bar code label(s)
· Note: Some suppliers put the bar code label on our deliveries.
· Once labelling has been completed, physically place the delivery onto racking
· The drivers will use the bar code scanner to transfer the product from a receiving location into the rack location on AX
· If the drivers physically take product from Stores for use in Production, they have 2 options with the bar code scanner
· Transfer the material(s) from the stores' location to a production WIP location OR
· Consume the material as it will not be coming back into Stores.
· If the drivers return material (s) from Production, they use the bar code scanner to transfer the material(s) from the Production WIP location to the Stores location in which it is going to be physically placed.
· All outgoing cheese must be scanned.
This list of responsibilities is not exhaustive. Depending on business needs, the role incumbent will be expected to demonstrate flexibility and assume additional responsibilities as required.
