About the job
Google's projects, like our users, span the globe and require managers to keep the big picture in focus while being able to dive into the unique engineering challenges we face daily.
As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise.
You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle.
This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders.
You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.
Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage projects of various size and scope, identifying future opportunities, improving processes and driving the technical directions of your programs.
The Production **** program is an SRE initiative with the mission to meaningfully reduce the amount of time a typical Google engineer spends on basic service management in production.
The P**** Technical Program Management team partners with the organization to develop and deploy internal solutions that increase the productivity of Google engineers (across all business units) as they operate their Google Production services.
We are looking for a senior Technical Program Manager to guide and optimize strategic programs for the P**** Organisation, collaborating closely with partner teams with Technical Infrastructure, Google Cloud Platform and Core.
This ideal is passionate about infrastructure and is looking to make a direct impact on Google - wide production management, focusing specifically on reliability, safety, and usability.
Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running.
From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible.
We're proud to be our engineers' engineers and love voiding warranties by taking things apart so we can rebuild them.
We keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible.
Responsibilities
Deliver results in dynamic and ambiguous situations, excellent organizational, facilitation and communication skills.
Develop and articulate long-term strategy for highly complex, ambiguous programs reaching beyond the immediate organization to drive efficiency.
Become a trusted advisor to executive decision-makers, providing valuable technical insights and aligning executive stakeholders on program direction and sensitive communications.
Establish best practices and systems for identifying improvements in processes, products, or services through measurement and performance metrics.
separately lead a governance structure that drives effective executive decision-making, mitigates cross-organization dependencies, and establishes a cadence for program reviews and resource stewardship.
Identify, mentor, and develop high-potential program managers and team members, preparing them for future roles within the organization or with peer organizations in Google.
Google is proud to be an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer.
We are committed to building a workforce that is representative of the users we serve, creating a culture of belonging, and providing an equal employment opportunity regardless of race, creed, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, national origin, disability, age, genetic information, veteran status, marital status, pregnancy or related condition (including breastfeeding), expecting or parents-to-be, criminal histories consistent with legal requirements, or any other basis protected by law.
