IP Operations Engineer

Responsibilities
Implement all IP network changes (low, medium, high risk) on the Three Ireland IP network from BAU, project or incident.
Plan, deploy, and subject changes to Change Management, Operational Readiness and Acceptance processes.
Support 24/7 on‑call service for P1/P2 incidents, providing level 2 advanced troubleshooting and escalations to level 3 vendor support.
Analyse and troubleshoot network faults, achieving resolution in accordance with SLAs.
Lead deep‑dive investigations and priority escalations such as latency, MTU, and speed‑test performance.
Execute preventative maintenance, lifecycle management, security and continuous service improvement activities.
Perform regular failover, resilience testing and audit/clean‑up activities on firewall rules, switch interfaces and other IP infrastructure.
Produce high‑quality reference documentation, including topology diagrams and operational change documents.
Engage technical vendors for fault resolution and ensure cases reflect appropriate priority, root‑cause analysis and resolution timelines.
Qualifications & Skills
Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent and ≥4 years of experience within a telco or service provider environment.
Certifications: CCNP or higher with strong Cisco and/or Juniper experience (LAN/VXLAN/WAN/SDWAN/WIFI).
Proven knowledge of security solutions such as Firewall, IDS/IPS, URL filtering and experience with L2/L3 protocols (MPLS, IoT, BGP, OSPF, RIP, IPSec, VoIP, VXLAN, QoS, 802.1Q/QinQ, MTU, Ethernet, xDSL, Wireless, 3G/4G/5G).
Experience with load balancing, scripting (Python), API development, Git, configuration management and automation tools such as Ansible.
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
Operational awareness of network change impact, strong communication and presentation skills, ability to work in cross‑functional teams.
High level of flexibility, willingness to learn and drive continuous improvement.
