Applications are invited for the position of Staff Nurse in Pre-Screening/Admissions Clinic.
This role is a
permanent, part time
position,
23
hours per week.
The Pre-Screening Clinic (PSC) is a nurse led clinic.
The post of Staff Nurse in pre-screening is an important role in the planning, coordinating, and managing of activity within the Hospital.
The purpose of the role is to provide a comprehensive pre-operative nursing history and assessment of patients prior to their surgery, to assist in identifying any anomalies that may affect their scheduled surgery and to report and follow up with the referring consultant.
The post-holder will also work with the nursing management team and multi-disciplinary team and act as a key link between patient and the medical team.
The post holder is responsible for:
Receiving referrals to P.S.C, appropriately assessing and reviewing referrals to determine if the patient meets criteria for admission
Scheduling appointments in the Meditech scheduler in a timely manner, sending correspondence to the patient regarding same.
Liaising with other departments such as physio, radiology & secretaries to co-ordinate the patient's pathway through P.S.C.
Carrying out clinical assessments that include but not limited to, ECG, BMI, phlebotomy, micro swabs, nursing assessment.
Managing clinic resources efficiently
Collecting metric data monthly and contributing to quality improvement measures
Assisting patients and families through the admission process
Developing and maintaining good working relationships and effective communication with the referring consultants/secretaries.
The Candidate:
Be registered in the General Division of the NMBI register
Have at least 5 years relevant post qualification experience
Have the clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role
Demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development at the appropriate level
Demonstrate the ability to lead on clinical practice and service quality
Demonstrate the ability to plan organize effectively
Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills including the ability to build and maintain relationships
Demonstrate strong communication and influencing skills
