Overview
This is a developmental opportunity; no experience is necessary. Accredited training will be provided to support your career. STAR Project Ballymun is a Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Programme and Family Support service with a street-based outreach team, The Easy Street. STAR is seeking through CE scheme a worker to provide office administration support and rehabilitation programme support with the staff team and services.
Overall purpose of the position: The role provides office administration support and works under the direction of CE Supervisors, Project Manager and Programme Co-ordinator and the staff team to support participants in relevant areas identified by the team through participant meetings.
Duties
* General administrative and office duties (filing, photocopying, word processing, answering the phone to deal with queries, taking messages and notes, etc.)
* Maintain and update attendance and day-to-day records of participants
* Support staff in delivery of day-to-day activities within the service
* Provide support to the team in delivering interventions to recovering substance users in a community-based service
* Participate in group discussions; observe and provide one-to-one support with other team members
* Support clients in/out of centre work in settings such as court, leisure activities, housing appointments, etc., as directed by the staff team
* Ensure strict confidentiality of participant information
* Assist and observe participants during breaks to maintain safe boundaries
* Collaborate with CE Supervisors, Project Manager & Programme Co-ordinator as an effective team member
* Attend relevant training to comply with CE scheme; training identified through the Individual Learner Plan (QQI Awards or industry qualifications available to CE participants)
* Attend staff team meetings and supervisions
* Potentially be trained into the Support Worker role and undertake additional duties with support
Skills and Abilities
* A basic level of computer skills
* Good communication skills to deal with the public and participants
* Open to working with individuals with substance use issues
* Ability to work within professional boundaries with supervision and training
* Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
* Willingness to upskill and attend training to enhance the role
* No experience required
Person Specification
This post may be suitable for someone in recovery or with an understanding and interest in working in substance use and community development. Garda vetting is required.
