Job Description
Arista Networks is looking for a high‑caliber Network Engineer for our Solution Test team. The key role of the Solution Test group is to ensure the quality of Arista’s products through system testing of large, complex, and feature‑rich, end‑to‑end environments.
Responsibilities
* Research technologies, features, and customer environments to design the right topologies for testing.
* Exercise extensive feature interaction and identify potential areas of breakage.
* Execute exhaustive testing focusing on realistic use cases, scale, and performance.
* Collaborate with stakeholders from development, sales, and engineering teams to understand testing requirements and expectations.
* Plan, build, or augment network topologies to support test use cases.
* Configure hardware, features, traffic generators, and other tools to emulate required environments.
* Execute thorough test plans, focusing on potential weaker areas, performance, and realistic scale.
* Participate in test plan reviews and provide customer‑centric input.
* Troubleshoot failures, work with development on root cause analysis, and document bugs or limitations.
* Communicate results to stakeholders and recommend design, implementation, or performance improvements.
* Interact with sales and customers to answer questions, handle ad‑hoc requests, and run small demos.
* Cross‑train with peers on new technologies to improve team effectiveness.
* Assist the TAC team with escalation reproduction efforts and the POC team with demo efforts.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's or Master's (preferred) degree in telecommunications, computer engineering, or computer networking.
* 10+ years of experience in complex end‑to‑end environments, including design, deployment, implementation, and migration.
* Experience in testing is preferred but not required.
* Strong knowledge of layer 2 and layer 3 technologies: IP forwarding, IP multicast, OSPF, BGP, VxLAN, MPLS, EVPN, ECMP, VRRP, STP, RSTP, MST, PVST+, Ethernet link aggregation, LACP, etc.
* Detailed knowledge of layer‑2/3 switch administration and industry‑standard CLI, SNMP, and API interfaces.
* Familiarity with Linux tools (ping, traceroute, tcpdump, ifconfig, ip, netstat, etc.) and scripting languages such as Python or TCL.
* Strong written and oral communication skills.
* Strong drive to improve quality and curiosity to learn new technologies.
* Independent worker, self‑motivated to succeed in breaking and improving our products.
* ACE L4, CCIE, or JNCIE level (certification a plus, not required).
